11/5/15

November 05, 2015 by Daniela Medina

Did anyone in H&M's PR department consider that "Balmaination" sounds a lot like "abomination"? Because it does.

I really enjoy fast fashion collaborations, but the last time I made the attempt to buy anything from a collection was when Prabal Gurung teamed up with Target in 2013, and DAMN that was a shit show: waking up early to shop online, getting kicked off the website because everyone had the same genius idea of making purchases first thing in the morning, having everything cool sell out in 5 nanoseconds, and then eventually walking away with a pair of earrings I sorta maybe liked but probably returned later on. Nah man. Collabs come and go, so I'll make due with what I have. I'm going to wear a jacket I bought from H&M years ago that I somehow decided would be super practical, but mainly bought because it was reminiscent of the military jackets Balmain showed in its Spring 2010 Ready-To-Wear collection.

But do you see the similarities? Balmaination! Finally I win! Ha! Do I sound bitter? Don't be confused, it's because I am.

Zara sideboob dress and shoes.

J. Crew belt.

Nepalese necklace.

H&M bootleg Balmain jacket.
